The Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM-IAMB)  is a Centre for post-graduate training, applied scientific research and design of in-loco partnership actions in the framework of the international cooperation programmes. It works in different thematic areas: Fisheries, Land and water resources management, Integrated pest management of Mediterranean fruit crops, Mediterranean organic agriculture and Sustainable agriculture, food and rural development.

                  

The Istituto Agronomico per l'Oltremare (IAO) is the consultancy and technical assistance organ of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the field of agricultural science and technology" (Art. 2 law 1612/62). IAO is a technical-scientific branch of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, working to fight world poverty and hunger. The Institute is involved in Development Cooperation initiatives on integrated rural development, environmental and natural resources management, fight against desertification and food security.

                  

The National Council for Scientific Research, Lebanon (CNRS) is a public institution established in 1962 and assigned with the task of formulating national science and technology policy, initiating, guiding, supporting and conducting scientific research programmes and activities in Lebanon. It advises the Government on all science and technology issues. The CNRS conducts research through its specialised centres and supports research projects having an impact on the socio-economic development of the country. The CNRS is a public autonomous institution reporting directly to the President of the Council of Ministers. It is administered by a Board of Administration and a General Secretariat.

                  

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lebanon (MoA) plays a key role in the management of natural resources (agricultural land, irrigation water, forests, forestry and fisheries and pastures) and rural development programs .The legislative decree no. 31 dated 18/1/1955 defined the mandate of the ministry stating that the MoA is responsible for implementing the legislation related to fisheries and fishing activities.
